clarinettists such as Rudolf Jettl or Peter Schmidl, the soloist Ferdinand
Steiner interprets the score using a lyrical cantilena consisting of
Mozartian ornamentation and melodic contemplation (magically-played
piano reprises are heard, for example, in the Adagio). The instrument's
glorious tone sequences never sound like a set of routinely fixed notes.
Instead, a wonderfully-phrased and richly-nuanced legibility produces a
compelling interpretation, the overall impression of which is, unfortunately,
too affected - one must ask, why the unfitting 'show-cadenza'?

Conforme a la gran tradición vienesa y como sucesor de los clarinetistas Rudolf Jettl o Peter Schmidl, mundialmente conocidos, el solista Ferdinand Steiner pone al descubierto tonos fabulosos de la partitura de acuerdo a la cantilena del canto ataviado mozartiano y de melódica contemplación (un piano extraordinariamente tocado – reposiciones, por ejemplo, en el adagio). La estupenda secuencia de tonos en el instrumento solista nunca suena como notas fijas interpretadas acaso, sino que son interpretadas con una concordancia bien fraseada y con una rica lectura de tonalidades, pero que desafortunadamente resulta un poco manierista y afectada, ¿qué significa ese extraño carácter de la cadencia totalmente fuera del lugar?

Ganz nach der großen Wiener Tradition und in der Nachfolge weltberühmter Klarinettisten wie Rudolf Jettl oder Peter Schmidl legt der Solist Ferdinand Steiner die Partitur mit Fabeltönen frei, ganz im Sinne einer lyrischen Kantilene von mozartschem Ziergesang und melodischer Kontemplation (märchenhaft gespielte Piano - Reprisen z.B. im Adagio). Die herrlichen Tonfolgen des Soloinstruments klingen nie beliebig nach fixierten Noten, sondern werden aus wunderbar phrasierter und nuancenreicher Lesbarkeit zu einer folglich zwingenden Deutung, die aber insgesamt leider auch zu affektiert und manieristisch ist - was soll eigentlich wesenfremde Show-Kadenz?
